Cilantro Beef
Simply delicious!
The savory sauce for this cilantro beef is very appetizing, and versatile for mixing with other meat and vegetable combinations too. Mushroom, eggplant, pork, okra, spinach, to name a few, would even be tasty with noodles!
Servings: 3
Ingredients:
300g flank steak, thinly sliced against grain
8 cloves garlic, minced
2 bundles of cilantro
Cooking oil
Beef marinade:
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp rice wine
½ tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp ground white pepper
½ tbsp corn starch (mix in 5 minutes before cooking)
Sauce:
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp Zhen-jiang black vinegar
1 ½ tsp ground white pepper
2 tsp white sesame seeds
1-2 tbsp Chinese chili pepper powder or chili oil/ chili sauce
Fried minced garlic
Instructions:
1. Marinate beef with beef marinade and a little minced garlic for at least 15 minutes. Remember to add corn starch a few minutes before cooking to keep beef tender during cooking process.
2. Rinse and chop cilantro. Place in a bowl.
3. Stir-fry the beef over high heat until done. Add to the bowl of cilantro.
4. Mix the sauce. Fry the rest of minced garlic with some cooking oil until golden. Add to the sauce.
5. Heat up a few tbsp of oil and pour over the sauce with extra caution because it will cause the sauce to steam and bubbles up.
6. Toss the sauce with juicy beef and cilantro. Enjoy!
